About Dr David Tong
David is a cardiologist who has an interest in managing cardiac patients with complex medical conditions. He sub-specialises in performing coronary angiography, stenting and intracoronary imaging.
David graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2007. Upon completion of cardiology specialist training and PhD, he pursued his aspirations and undertook a post-doctoral interventional fellowship at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England.
As an academic cardiologist, David combines research with clinical care and teaching. His research work has been featured in many reputable peer-reviewed journals. He is also actively involved in junior medical staff education and training programs, and believes passionately in giving back and making a difference.
David holds public appointment at Eastern Health and various private hospitals across metropolitan Melbourne. He appreciates the importance of keeping abreast of the latest scientific advances to ensure his patients receive evidence-based and quality care.
Born in Malaysia, David is fluent in Mandarin and Malay. He enjoys playing piano and travelling with his family. He is a loving (and witty) dad of two amazing girls and always enjoys a good laugh especially when life gets tough.
